An LA Lakers Murder Mystery
The murder of Victor Weiss is one of the great mysteries in NBA history. After Jerry West resigned as head coach of the LA Lakers in 1979, Jerry Tarkanian was set to be hired as his replacement. Weiss was Tarkanian's agent, and he met with Lakers owner Jerry Buss to negotiate a contract for Tarkanian to coach the Lakers.
After that meeting, Weiss went missing and his murdered body was found stuffed in the trunk of his Rolls Royce four days later. The investigation into his murder uncovered a secret life of Weiss' that indicated he was a bag man for the mafia. Even more shockingly, Weiss had links to Carroll Rosenbloom, the owner of the LA Rams, and many claimed that Weiss was involved in a massive NFL gambling scandal.
