In late 1985, the Gander plane crash occurred in Canada. 256 people died in the crash — 248 US servicemen and 8 crew — making it the worst air disaster in US military history.

Strange details about the Gander plane crash soon emerged, convincing many that the plane was sabotaged or brought down by a bomb planted onboard. The mystery deepened when links to one of the biggest scandals of the 1980s, the Iran-Contra scandal, were discovered.
